LCDS Experience

Growing Our Partnership, Supporting Our Children

At LCDS, we believe education extends beyond the classroom to include supporting parents as they raise children in today’s world—a world very different from the one many of us grew up in. Our Parent Workshop Series is a joint effort with our Counseling Office, led by Ms. Tiffani Brown, our School Counselor, who continually seeks ways to help families navigate complex parenting challenges. Together, we offer guidance on situations in which even the most well-intentioned efforts to help our children may unintentionally limit their opportunities to learn and grow.

On October 29, we welcomed therapist and school counselor Chantell Prescott-Hollander for “Building Grit & Resilience: Helping Kids Navigate Challenge and Grow.” Chantell shared simple ways parents can help children handle setbacks, learn from mistakes, and keep trying when things get hard. She also explained when to offer help and when to give children space to solve problems on their own, helping them build confidence and independence

Thank you to all the parents who attended and benefited from this workshop. Your participation strengthens the partnership between home and school that is so important to our children’s growth. We look forward to offering two more workshops this school year with outstanding guest speakers as we continue learning together and building a shared understanding of how to raise capable, caring, and resilient children in today’s world.
