The Power of a "K to 8" School Model

A study in the American Educational Research Journal confirms that students who attend K-8 schools are the most comfortable, feel safest, and ultimately perform better academically than their counterparts. No educational model better addresses the developmental needs of its students. Focusing exclusively on the educational needs of elementary and middle school students allows us to provide a challenging curriculum within a safe and nurturing environment.

This school model enables us to offer a program that celebrates childhood and, in turn, allows our students to remain children for just a little bit longer. This benefit provides a respite from a world that increasingly cuts short the innocence of childhood, a magical time in all of our lives. At Loudoun Country Day School, we understand that the early years are a pivotal time in a child’s development. It is during this time that confidence, curiosity, respect, and resilience begin to grow. That’s why our school is intentionally focused on Preschool through Grade 8.

Our admissions process is thoughtfully tailored to the developmental needs of each age group, ensuring that every step is age-appropriate for your child. Select your child’s grade level below for detailed admissions timeline.

ADMISSIONS PROCESS OVERVIEW

STEP 1: Create an Eagle Connect Account

Your Eagle Connect account allows you to sign up for admissions events, schedule a tour, register your child in a playgroup session, and manage your application checklist. *Note: If you have multiple children applying, please create an account for each child.
STEP 2: Tour & Meet

Come visit our school to see it in action and get a sense of the warmth and excitement on campus and in the classrooms!
STEP 3: Apply Online

The application takes 5 minutes to complete and will give you access to the Resource Board, full of information about LCDS community life.
STEP 4: Schedule Your Child's School Visit

Please check your "checklist" to see if your child needs to attend a playgroup session or an academic screening depending on their age. Please note: an application must be submitted before scheduling a playgroup session or academic screening.
STEP 5: Complete the Application "Checklist"

Each grade level has an application "checklist" that has to be completed as part of the application process. A complete application has all required "Checklist" components marked as complete.
