Honoring Courage, Compassion, and Character: The 2025 Gabriella Miller Award

This year, Loudoun Country Day School was honored to present the Gabriella Miller Award—one of our most meaningful and prestigious recognitions—to Hadley Coyan, a fifth-grade student who exemplifies the spirit of courage, compassion, and character that Gabriela so beautifully embodied.

The Gabriella Miller Award was presented during the Fifth Grade Rise Up Ceremony. Dr. Odell shared that although she never had the good fortune to know Gabriella personally, “That is certainly a loss I feel keenly. Her legacy has touched so many lives—from her fellow students and teachers to countless others she never met, whose world is brighter because of the bravery she exhibited.”

Gabriella’s parents, Mark and Ellyn Miller, joined us for the ceremony and shared a few heartfelt words about their daughter—reminding us all of the remarkable young woman Gabriella was and the values she carried throughout her too-short life.

This year, Hadley was recognized for consistently demonstrating kindness, integrity, and quiet strength—leading not through loudness, but through example. She lifts others up, approaches each day with curiosity and care, and reflects the very best of what it means to be part of the LCDS community.

We are incredibly proud to honor Hadley as this year’s Gabriella Miller Award recipient. Through her words and actions, she carries Gabriella’s legacy forward and inspires all of us to lead with heart.
