Recognizing the Leaders of the Class of 2026

The LCDS graduation ceremony was more than a celebration of academic achievement—it was an opportunity to recognize the student leaders who have helped shape the Class of 2026 and exemplify the values of our school.

The ceremony opened with a Silent Tribute led by incoming Student Council President Oliver Vermillion. As he prepares to take on student leadership next year, Oliver invited the community to pause in gratitude and reflect on the accomplishments of the graduating class.

Current Student Council President Rafa Garcia then addressed his classmates, reflecting on nearly a decade of shared experiences at LCDS. From early elementary school memories and the challenges of the COVID years to field trips, school traditions, and lifelong friendships, Rafa celebrated the unique bond that defines the Class of 2026. He encouraged his classmates to cherish the memories they have made together and reminded them that the foundations of who they are today were built within the LCDS community.

Several students were recognized for leadership that reflects the mission and values of Loudoun Country Day School.

The Philip E. duPont Memorial Award, which honors servant leadership, courage, compassion, and character, was presented to two outstanding students.

Maya Qamar was recognized for her unwavering kindness, love of learning, and dedication to making every member of the community feel valued and included. Through both her visible contributions and quiet acts of care, Maya consistently demonstrated what it means to lead with compassion.

Nolan Maruca Witt received the award for his generous spirit, strong character, and commitment to serving others. Whether helping classmates, volunteering his time, or supporting the school community, Nolan exemplified the selfless leadership for which this award is named.

The Dare to Lead Award was presented to Saydie Forst for her growth as a leader, her resilience in the face of challenges, and her commitment to kindness and personal growth. Saydie's leadership has been defined not by titles, but by her willingness to learn, support others, and courageously embrace opportunities for growth.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of the Head of School Award by members of the Class of 2025, Kathleen Quinn and Quincy Herrick. This prestigious honor was awarded to Nader Syed, whose leadership, humility, intellectual curiosity, integrity, and commitment to excellence have distinguished him throughout his time at LCDS. A respected scholar-athlete and role model, Nader exemplifies the qualities of leadership and citizenship that define an LCDS Eagle.

Together, these student leaders represent the very best of the Class of 2026. Through their service, character, compassion, and dedication to others, they have left a lasting impact on the LCDS community and set an inspiring example for future generations of Eagles.
