Pawsitive Energy on Campus: Kai, Our Therapy Dog
Since 2023, Loudoun Country Day School has been fortunate to welcome Kai, our certified therapy dog, as a joyful presence on campus. Kai, a large, light brown Labradoodle, is certified by the Alliance of Therapy Dogs and works alongside his wonderful handler, Mrs. Karen Merwin. Together, they have become an integral part of our counseling curriculum. With his signature full-body wiggles and eager tail wags, Kai greets students with excitement and warmth, instantly lifting spirits and spreading smiles. He especially loves when students rub his fluffy fur, and his calming presence brings comfort and connection to everyone he meets.
When he’s off duty, Kai enjoys zooming around the house, snuggling with his favorite stuffed animals, and waiting patiently for his next tasty treat. Whether he’s offering encouragement during a counseling session or simply sharing a moment of affection in the hallways, Kai embodies the spirit of care, joy, and support that defines our school community.
