Honoring Our LCDS Student Leaders

At Loudoun Country Day School, moments of celebration often reveal the heart of who we are as a community. During this year’s Eighth Grade Graduation Ceremony, we were deeply moved by the leadership and presence of three outstanding students—each of whom embodied the core values that guide us: respect, citizenship, responsibility, caring, fairness, and trustworthiness. Their words and actions reflected our mission to inspire students to become lifelong learners, to think critically, and to lead with courage, compassion, and character.
Rafa Garcia, our incoming Student Council President for the 2025–26 school year, was elected from a group of outstanding rising eighth graders for his poise, character, and leadership skills. He will lead the Class of 2026 with strength and heart. Rafa not only carried the LCDS flag at the start of the ceremony, leading everyone in with confidence, but he also opened the event with a moving moment of silence. His thoughtful gesture invited the entire community to pause and reflect on the meaningful moments and lasting impact of an LCDS education. We can’t wait to see all the great things Rafa will accomplish in the year ahead!

Following Rafa was Colin Cubarney, who served as the 2024–25 Student Council President. Colin led with clarity, humility, and quiet strength—representing his class and the entire student body with integrity. His leadership was a shining example of responsibility and trustworthiness. A caring, courageous, and compassionate student and classmate, Colin truly embodied the spirit of LCDS. Well done, Colin—we’re proud of you and can’t wait to see all the amazing things you'll do at Paul VI!

We were also honored to welcome back Michael Walker, a proud LCDS alumnus from the Class of 2024. Now thriving at the Academies of Loudoun, Michael returned to campus to present the Head of School Award to this year’s recipients. Michael received the same award last year for exemplifying the mission and culture of LCDS, including a deep love of learning and a commitment to leading with courage, compassion, and character. His continued success and strong sense of citizenship are a powerful testament to the lasting impact of an LCDS education.

We are immensely grateful to Rafa, Colin, and Michael for their leadership, presence, and embodiment of the values we hold dear. They reminded us all of the bright future ahead—not just for them, but for every LCDS student.
