At LCDS we believe in the ancient Greek idea of a sound mind in a sound body. Therefore, we offer exceptional physical education and athletic programs with an emphasis on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and the importance of exercise in leading a healthy, productive life. Athleticism is woven into the school's culture and includes athletic events traditions, such as the Lower School and Middle School Field Days, The Mile Run and Talon Tournament. Our physical education program and competitive sports teams are led by teaching faculty and coaches dedicated to sharing their passion for their areas of expertise.

All LCDS students participate in age-appropriate physical education classes.

  • PreK through 3rd Grade classes meet three times per week for 30 minutes. (Second and third grade have a fourth period on Friday afternoons where they have a choice of Swim Team or PE for 45 minutes.)
  • Fourth and Fifth Grade classes meet three times per week for 45 minutes.
  • Middle School classes meet three times per week for 80 minutes, or 100 minutes, or an extended period until dismissal.

The middle school program includes opportunities for students to play on a variety of Eagles sports teams throughout the year. Details about LCDS's athletic program, forms and uniform information is available in the "My LCDS" parent portal .

In addition to PE classes, LCDS offers extra-curricular sports opportunities through the LCDS Eagle Swim Team, Little Dribblers Basketball, Girls On the Run and a variety of sports-related after school activities and camps. Information about extra-curricular sports activities is available here .
