Choosing the right school for your child is a very important decision. When you select LCDS as your child's academic home this means you have chosen:
Loudoun Country Day School offers a rigorous curriculum that engages and challenges students. Core subject areas are enriched by invigorating programs in art, music, foreign languages, technology, and physical education, beginning in preschool. Middle school students benefit from a diverse athletic program including soccer, field hockey, cross country, basketball, lacrosse, tennis, and an outdoor education team building program. Our small class sizes and outstanding student to teacher ratios provide stimulating classroom settings with individualized approaches, enabling each child to reach his or her potential. We have teacher assistants in preschool through fifth grade. Our experienced and outstanding faculty exemplify the dedication and commitment to excellence we seek to cultivate in our students. Fifty percent of our faculty have more than 10 years of service at LCDS.
We believe that talented students thrive most when they are challenged to reach their full potential. Our whole-child approach fosters critical and creative thinking, develops an appreciation for service to others and prepares our students to be caring, compassionate leaders, and global citizens. Our program fosters the whole child approach through including strong academics in the core subjects, robust art and music programs, technology, foreign language, athletics, an array of enriching field trip experiences, community service, student government, and character education.
LCDS is a community of dedicated faculty, professional and caring administration, engaged students and involved parents working towards the common mission to cultivate the intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and creative growth of each child and develop a foundation that inspires excellence, builds character, and prepares each child for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
We pride ourselves on providing a welcoming environment during the day and beyond. School-wide events, such as the Back to School Lower School ice cream social and Middle School cook-out, Fall Fun Fair, Veterans Day Celebration, Bingo night, Annual Auction, Headmaster's Reception, Talon Tournament and more, serve as gatherings for all members of our community to come together and enjoy school-sponsored activities. Traditions such as the Big Buddy program, sixth grade's ancient Egypt museum, Blue/Green games, embryology study, Meet the Author days, Mother's Day Tea, coffee house poetry readings, National Geography Bee, and our annual Veterans Day celebration are developed to expand learning experiences and inspire our students.
