Master Singers of Virginia and
Music Teacher Amie Roos to Perform
February 26 at 6:15 p.m.
The Master Singers of Virginia will perform Sunday, February 26, at 6:15 p.m. with our own music teacher Amie Roos. This musical group is a mixed chorale ensemble in Northern Virginia, whose focus is primarily 20th century and 21st-century a cappella music and emphasizes enriching, educating, and entertaining their audiences.
The theme of their Winter concerts is “Shakespeare of Today” and features new music by Estonian composer Rene Eespere and two composers, Jaakko Mantyjarvi’s Canticum Calamitatis Maritimae and Benjamin Britten’s Hymn to St. Cecilia. The ensemble will also sing a number of jazz-influenced settings of texts by William Shakespeare.
Loudoun Country Day School music teacher Amie Roos says, “As many of you know, I perform with the Master Singers of Virginia. This is my tenth year doing so. For the first time ever, we will be performing here at LCDS!!! I would personally like to invite my LCDS family to attend. This is a wonderful opportunity for the students (and parents) to experience wonderful choral music in Northern Virginia and to see their very own teacher performing on the stage! Any student that attends will receive extra credit in music class. I hope to see you there.”
Tickets are available online at www.msva.org and also at the door.
Please come out and support the Master Singers and one of their own and our own, Mrs. Amie Roos!!!!
