ACADEMICS

ENGLISH: We will continue to read and work on My Brother Sam Is Dead for novel study, and ultimately finish off this story by early June.  This story is set during the American Revolution, thus augmenting our History studies. The students continue to build up their reading comprehension skills, and develop a powerful short essay writing style through their comprehension work. For vocabulary, Wordly Wise list #18, #19, and #20, will be due this month, thus finishing off this spelling program.

MATH: We will focus on the concept of probability early on in the month, and finish off the year with a mini-unit on Measurement, thus augmenting our science studies.

SCIENCE: The students will continue to work on their current unit of inquiry, Measurement, with a practical application through architectural design and engineering structure, via a scale model rendering of a world class building.

There is one last current event due at the end of the month with the new format.

 .

GEOGRAPHY: The students will work on coursework assignments dealing with some Maps of Climate Zones, The Amazon Rainforest, and some population maps.
